I find this talk about Kelenic comical. He's a 19 year old kid who hit .253 at Kingsport and struck out once a game and people are talking like he's the second coming. Get real people. When you have a chance to get the best reliever in the game who's only 24 and give up Kelenic in the deal, you MAKE that deal. Stop with the nonsense.

Metro told me the Mets have loved this guy for ages.

Sounds like we have brought in HS 1B/LHP Dash Winningham for multiple visits as recently as today.
They have apparently been hot for this kid for a while as I remember the name from a while back (how can you forget a name like that?) If it's the same kid I think he worked out in the off-season with Murphy.

Yup. From last July

The Celtics slugger's summer isn't quite over yet. He's heading north next month with some travel teammates to take part in an invitational showcase with the New York Mets, where he'll show off his skill set for professional scouts.
Winningham, as noted in the article, not only worked out for the Mets, but he also took part in a private batting practice session at Jacksonville University with Daniel Murphy who is a native of Jacksonville.
Beck shared Winningham’s thoughts on the workout:
“It was awesome hitting with those guys,” Winningham said. “It was all fun and just getting to know them. I hit a couple out too.”
Dash Winningham, the 6-foot-2, 225-pound slugger for Trinity Catholic who had launched a solo home run over the right-field fence for a 1-0 lead in the first inning, said the catch saved the game.
"My heart sank and then it rose when he caught it," said Winningham, who signed to play at FGCU but said he hoped to sign a big-money contract with the New York Mets after the June baseball draft. The Mets have been scouting him.
