LHP Stetson University 6'7", 240 lbs. 1/13/1998
Was once a pretty big prospect with regards to the 2019 draft. His 2018 was dominant, but things fell apart in spectacular fashion this year.
2018: 15 G, 13 GS 9-2, 2.51 ERA, 93 IP, 66 H, 26 ER, 2 HR, 28 BB, 114 K
2019: 13 G, 4 GS 1-4, 14.68 ERA, 19 IP, 25 H, 31 ER, 3 HR, 30 BB, 25 K
No idea what happened. Case of the Ankiels?
Seems like a worthwhile flyer though. I love the pick. At his best he's a low 90s guy with a potential plus slider. Also works in a changeup and curve.

Great pick.... but I'd have to consider going back and trying to rebuild value if I'm him
But as a senior, what kind of leverage will he have?
If the Mets offer him $125K, can he expect to get any more than that as a 2020 senior sign? Even if he has a good season, that seems unlikely. If he has another dreadful year than he's getting peanuts.
His decision will come down to whether he wants to get his degree now or put it off until he takes baseball as far as he can. I don't think money is going to matter much for him at this point. Which is a shame, considering where he was this time last year on the 2019 draft boards. But I guess that's the way it goes sometimes!

True but that's if he's offered 125K in the first place. And if he comes back senior year and pitched like his soph, he'd still get at least double the 125K I'd think. I do think he will sign, but Id surely give it an extra moments pause.

I think you offer him some money in the hopes he's just looking to get his pro career started...that's quite the bad year he's had...buying low here possibly.

Scouting report from BA
A 6-foot-7, 240-pound lefthander with a funky delivery who relies on deception, Senger had a strong 2018 season behind first-round pick Logan Gilbert in the rotation, but has struggled heavily this spring. Senger was relegated to the bullpen after his first three starts and pitched infrequently after that, throwing 19 innings to a 14.68 ERA. His fastball is a below-average offering in the 86-88 mph range, while his secondaries are fringey as well, though each pitch has played up at times in the past thanks to the many moving parts in his delivery. Senger was an interesting draft prospect after striking out 114 batters and walking 28 in 2018, but his struggles this spring might be too concerning for teams when combined with his below-average stuff.
