Samuel Tavarez. He is 21 but also 6’8 and throws 100mph.

Also noticed, while going through some of the other pics, that 16 year old RHP Elian Nunez is linked to the Mets when the 7/2 2020 signing period starts.

Good catch, I must have missed that one.

It's an interesting follow, they post videos of players down in the DR and occasionally you hit on one that will sign with the Mets.

Nunez is the first 2020 guy I've seen linked to the Mets. I'm guessing Tavarez will sign as soon as MLB lifts restrictions on signing players. Not sure of the bonus he will command but not much need of delaying the signing of a 21 year old. That's also with the assumption the DSL will play ball at some point this summer. But with players starting to be assigned to teams it's a good bet they at least think they are going to play ball and maybe fairly soon.

Ben Badler replied to me on Twitter and said they are basically going for quantity over the top guys. I’m guessing signing a bunch of guys for 200-400 k. Which isn’t the worst strategy with 16 yr olds.

The last couple of years they been signing between 50-60 players.

Usually it's one big signing then about five in the $200-$300K range then the rest for a lot less. And remember all signings for $10K or less do not count against the bonus pool.

Looks like this year they keeping bonus amounts lower so, maybe, there will be a lot more signings in the $300K range.

Keep in mind that if we're cutting 2 short season teams you really don't need to bring in a lot of quantity.

So DSL teams have been making lots of transactions recently. I guess the DSL is going to be starting on time?

I don't think that effects the international league signings much. Not sure what the effect will be on the 2021 draft.

According to BA:
Mets will have 5,348,100 bonus pool
Also another small but important caveat.

Unlike previous seasons, You will not be able to trade your bonus pool allocation.
