Einhort wasn't paying the 2.6 billion team valuation. Don't remember what he was paying, but I'm betting it was less.

I was hoping immediate would mean now not next year.

Ha. Only reason I feel like it's not immediate is because they have to vote on this....we will be shopping in the dollar isle.

They really need to sign Gerritt Cole.

So do 29 other teams. . . . that's not going to happen.

Can't he just spend now and he can pay the Wilpons back?

Lots of money coming off the books next season, so that's something to look forward to.

A source familiar with the negotiations indicated Thursday that while Van Wagenen wasn’t blindsided by the team’s announcement this week (he previously was informed of the possible sale), he clearly didn’t know about a potential ownership change when he arrived to his new position in October last year.

“Short-term, [Van Wagenen] is fine,” the source said. “But I think he’s screwed.”

The past decade has taken a tremendous toll on this fan base. And that’s something to say given that we had a World Series appearance. I have never known Mets fans to be more resigned to mediocrity at best with little or no hope. “ya gotta believe” embodied the hope that this fan base had, which is long gone. The legacy of this ownership whether deserved or not will be an ownership who killed a red hot fan base.

We don’t need to buy every free agent, or do other crazy stuff. But it will be nice to wake up with a feeling other than “if every single thing breaks for us in the best possible way maybe we might be competitive, maybe.”

I believe the Wilpons are good people and I wish them well. I also look forward to a new ownership. And I hope that the die hards that have remained will get to see the fan base as a whole return to what it once was.

Great, even more of a reason for Brodie to make super-desperate win now burn down the house trades.

I’d love Brodie to make some win now moves given we’ve gutted our farm so it’s time to push.

All I see him doing is making bad trades that sacrifice possible contributors In the upper minors to bring in mediocre players based around their salary number only.

Trading Stroman for Wheeler isn’t win now. It’s cost savings.

He’s in a bad spot but he continues to make things worse. If you have no budget for a 4th OFer don’t trade a ready piece at a position of need just to get a cheap one. And then turn around and show you have no budget for relievers so you can only afford Brad Brach types with the likely only open spot for the pen.
